About Us – Why are we here?

When End The Illusion was first started in 2009, the world had just experienced the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression. As we watched the human, environmental, political and social consequences of this event, it became apparent that there was a pressing need to educate the people on why this happened, and on where the government responses were helpful, ineffective, or made matters worse. For a list of the issues we proposed to cover at that time, you can read our original About Us statement.

The list was quite long and even it did not cover all of the issues we all faced. Unfortunately, since that time very few of these issues have been properly and comprehensively addressed. Wealth inequality has significantly increased, bribery of the government has since been legalized by the Supreme Court, government statistics such as inflation and unemployment are grossly manipulated, our political discourse has degenerated, the massive consolidation of corporations continues unabated, the main stream media has devolved into propaganda instruments, while wars without end continue and new ones are initiated, and so on, and so on.

The problems have at best been masked while being allowed to fester until some Black Swan event will bring the manipulations out into the open and displayed for all to see. The term Black Swan is used as a metaphor to describe unforeseen events that have major effects. The problems outlined in our original About Us document have continued to grow and the strain on the system is causing it to bend and ultimately it will snap. Think of inadequate roof joists during a snow fall where more and more weight is added as snow continues to slowly accumulate. The joists first sag as the weight builds up beyond their capacity, but eventually reaches a point where one snaps, triggering a cascading failure by others ultimately causing catastrophic results.

The same thing will happen to our institutions, governance, and communities when this happens. The exact nature of these results are difficult to predict, but what can be said with certainty is that they will involve significant upheaval, pain and chaos. Perhaps this will also lead to a reevaluation and replacement of our current system.

So our original goal was to educate people as to the nature of the problems we faced. Knowing and understanding the problem is the first step to finding a solution. If one does not understand the problem, the chances of an effective solution being developed are severely reduced. Since the main stream media does not properly inform the people, alternative media outlets have been filling the gap. The result is that the main stream media is becoming less and less relevant and recently we have even seen attempts by the main stream media to discredit alternative sources by labeling them as “fake news”. These attempts are symptoms of a dying industry desperately trying to survive. They will fail unless there is a significant cultural shift within these main stream outlets.

The good news here is that more and more people are becoming aware of the problems we collectively face and find their blind faith in the main stream media, government, and corporate propaganda is replaced with growing distrust. Ending these illusions that have been created by our own thought processes and heavily influenced by the cheerleaders in the main stream media is a key step in starting the process of reevaluation and bringing about much needed changes. Some of the indicators of the growth of this distrust and rejection of the elite narrative can be seen with the British Exit, election of Trump, European rejection of increased central authority, and the rising power of alternative political parties and movements across the western world.

Now that the number of aware people has risen to a point where such indicators can take place, we need to move to the next step in the process and start exploring what changes need to happen and how to bring them about. Placing our hopes with and expecting results from any single leader such as Obama, Clinton or Trump will not make this happen. WE NEED TO BE THE CHANGE WE ARE LOOKING FOR.

If we choose to go down the path of hate and violence, we will ultimately be victims of that same hate and violence. The changes we need must have leaders who are thinkers, so that once the power shifts, it will be the thinkers who guide the process. If the movement devolves into violence, then those with guns will assume leadership of the struggle for change and once the power shifts, they will not relinquish their power to the back to the thinkers, but will do whatever it takes to preserve their newly found power and privileges. These are exactly the people that should not be in power, as their egos will have them sacrifice morality and ethics in order to preserve their status. “New boss same as the old boss.”

Any changes that do not change our monetary system will only be nibbling at the edges. Any changes that do not remove money from our political electoral system will only change the players in the game, but not the game itself. Any changes that do not encourage the building of local, self sustaining economies will only perpetuate the existing corporate dominance of our lives and our government. Any changes that are externally applied without an accompanying spiritual awakening will only replace one deeply flawed system with a new one.

  • We need to completely reform our monetary system.

  • We need to remove all private funding of political campaigns.

  • We need to build self-sustaining, resilient communities.

  • We need a spiritual awakening to manifest the paradise that life on this planet can be

The direction of this website will continue to educate people on the nature of the problems we face. It is important to shine a light where there is darkness for people to see and understand the issues we face.

End The Illusion will also take the next step and present solutions to these problems. This could take the form of theoretical discussions or actual examples of solutions that are working somewhere on the planet. It is important to shine a light on what does work so that more people will become aware. More and more people are opening up to new ideas and paradigms as the need for new thinking becomes increasingly apparent. There are so many new sources for information on these solutions and the list continues to grow.

Finally, in order to manifest the transformational changes that will be needed will require that we ourselves be that change. For example, when building self sustaining and resilient communities, they could be built based on fear or on love. If they are built on fear, they will be competitive in their nature, with people hoarding, looking after themselves, and a fear based community would not be a nice place to live. If such a community were based on love, it would cooperative and collaborative in its nature with people looking out for each other with each member contributing their own special talents for the community. This type of community would be a much more pleasant place to live and work.

A cooperative self-sufficient and resilient community would have its own local based economy. It would make the current corporate based model obsolete and thus render them irrelevant. This would bring about a transformational change without having to confront the current power structure. The stranglehold the corporations have on us and our governance structures would be broken without confrontation.

There are many impressive voices out there speaking of solutions to those who are ready to accept change. Some of the ones that have resonated with me include: David Korten, Paul Craig Roberts, Ellen Brown, Marianne Williamson, Deepak Chopra, Bernard Lietaer, Michael Tellinger, Charles Eisenstein, Margarit Kennedy, Ken Wilber, Aaron Swartz, and many, many others. My apologies to the many great minds that should have been on this list but have been left out.

In closing, here at End The Illusion, we will work towards bringing about these changes that are needed through sharing information on this website, the writing of our own articles, and our newest venture through the creation of videos that support these efforts. We welcome your comments and suggestions and hope that as you grow, you will become a catalyst for others to grow as well.

Your efforts will then be like a pond where even a small pebble thrown into it sends ripples of change across a wide expanse affecting the entire pond.

Quotable Sayings

our belief system has created huge inequality

This belief system of winner take all has led to the inevitable: You are set against each other in the upward struggle to reach the top, or near the top. Some of you do. The rest of you, who are not in the winners’ circle, are altogether disappointed and have a sense of failure.
